Application Overview
Fire Control & Target Acquisition
In modern combat, the engagement window is measured in seconds. Fire Control and Target Acquisition systems transform raw sensor data into precise, actionable firing solutions enabling first-round hit probability at ranges where survival depends on who shoots first. OBSETECH delivers the thermal cameras, laser range finders, and stabilized EO/IR gimbal payloads that serve as the eyes and measuring tools of the world's most advanced fire control architectures.
What Is Fire Control & Target Acquisition
See First.
Range Accurately.
Fire Decisively.
A Fire Control & Target Acquisition System (FCTA) is the integrated technological suite that manages the complete engagement sequence from the moment a threat is detected to the moment it is neutralized. Target Acquisition involves the passive detection, identification, and tracking of a hostile signature, often at ranges where the human eye cannot see. Fire Control is the computational intelligence that translates that sensor data into a precise ballistic solution, accounting for target distance, velocity, and environmental variables to ensure a first-round hit. Together, FCTA systems remove the guesswork from high-stakes engagements, providing the speed and precision when seconds determine the outcome. OBSETECH delivers the key electro-optical components - thermal cameras, day cameras, laser range finders, and stabilized gimbals, that form the sensing foundation of every effective FCTA architecture.
Target Acquisition
Passive detection, identification, and classification of hostile targets at long range. Cooled MWIR or uncooled LWIR thermal cameras provide high-contrast imaging through smoke, haze, dust, and total darkness enabling commanders to identify, classify, and prioritize threats at extreme standoff distances before an engagement decision is made.
Range & Ballistic Computation
Precise distance measurement is the primary data input for any ballistic computer. Eye-safe laser range finders with sub-meter accuracy feed the fire control system with the exact range, allowing instant calculation of target elevation, lead angle, and trajectory solution - transforming a visual contact into an actionable firing data point.
Stabilized Tracking & Engagement
Electro stabilized EO/IR gimbals or turrets maintain a locked line-of-sight on the target while the platform maneuvers at speed over rough terrain. Automatic target tracking ensures the sensor stays precisely on aim point throughout the engagement, delivering the stable, high-resolution data stream the fire control computer needs to confirm a valid firing solution.
Deployment Environments
FCTA Systems Across
Multi-Domain Platforms
Fire Control & Target Acquisition systems are engineered for the harshest operational environments - high vibration, extreme temperatures, dust, and battlefield obscurants. OBSETECH components are qualified for integration across all FCTA platform classes.
Armored Vehicles & MBTs
Main Battle Tanks and Armored Fighting Vehicles require fire-on-the-move capability with first-round hit accuracy at ranges exceeding 3 km. Stabilized EO/IR sights incorporating cooled MWIR cameras and precision long-range LRF modules provide the gunner with a stable, high-resolution thermal image and exact range data regardless of platform speed or terrain.
Remote Control Weapon Stations (RCWS)
Unmanned turret systems allow operators to acquire, track, and engage targets from inside protected hulls. Compact EO/IR gimbal payloads integrating daylight cameras, thermal cameras, and LRF modules deliver the multi-sensor situational awareness that enables accurate target engagement without crew exposure at all hours and in all weather conditions.
Naval Surface Combatants
Directing deck guns and close-in weapon systems (CIWS) against fast-moving surface threats and aerial targets at sea requires exceptional stabilization against vessel motion and sea clutter. Stabilized EO/IR payloads with integrated LRF enable continuous thermal tracking and precise ranging of surface and low-flying aerial targets in maritime environments.
Air Defense & ATGM Systems
Anti-Tank Guided Missile launchers and short-range air defense units depend on thermal imaging to provide the lock-on signature required for precision-guided munitions and kinetic interceptors. MWIR and LWIR cameras enable passive target acquisition of low-observable aerial and ground threats, synchronizing optical tracking with the guidance system for maximum engagement probability.
OBSETECH in Fire Control Systems
Mission Critical
Electro-Optical Sensing Components
OBSETECH provides the high-performance EO/IR sensing components that serve as the eyes and measuring tools of modern Fire Control & Target Acquisition architectures engineered for military-grade environmental, optical, and electrical requirements across all platform types.
Thermal imaging is a fundamental technology for modern target acquisition, providing passive detection without illumination and reliable performance in smoke, dust, haze and camouflage conditions where visible sensors are limited. MWIR or LWIR thermal cameras deliver maximum sensitivity and long-range detection capability, supporting positive identification of vehicles, personnel and aerial targets, especially when combined with continuous zoom optics with integrated autofocus.
In fire control systems, precise distance measurement is critical for accurate ballistic calculations and high first-round hit probability. OBSETECH eye-safe laser range finder modules provide highly accurate ranging data required to calculate elevation and lead correction in real time. Designed for seamless integration into EO/IR sighting systems, the modules include an integrated laser pointer for precise boresight alignment with thermal and daylight sensors.
Accurate fire control requires perfectly stabilized line-of-sight despite platform movement, vibration and terrain conditions. OBSETECH gyro-stabilized EO/IR gimbal payloads and ground turret EO/IR systems provide high-precision stabilization, enabling reliable auto-tracking and precise aim point placement even in dynamic environments. Integrated multi-sensor systems combining daylight cameras, MWIR or LWIR thermal imagers and laser range finders deliver synchronized visual, thermal and ranging data to the fire control system. Continuous target tracking ensures stable angular data for accurate ballistic calculations across mobile and fixed fire control platforms.
